Rodents, regardless of their specific classification, all share a common feature: a pair of incisors at the front of their mouth that never cease to grow. To slow the growth of these teeth or file them down over time, rodents constantly chew and gnaw, which is why they tend to be rather destructive.
Because mice and rats are the two most common rodent species, it’s important to clearly identify the differences. Both are completely covered in fur with long tails, beady eyes, and rounded ears—yet rats are three to five times the size of mice.
Danger Has Struck
Now lies the million-dollar question: are rodents dangerous? This question can be answered in various different ways, but the short answer is yes.
Here are five reasons why rodents can be so dangerous:
#1: They contaminate food due to their urine and feces droppings.
#2: They spread various bacteria and diseases including—but not limited to—tularemia, leptospirosis, and salmonellosis.
#3: They invite fleas, ticks, mites, and other pests into your home.

#5: They risk fire or water damage due to their incessant chewing through wires and pipes.
